Costume Fundraiser

4th grade is holding its first fundraiser of the year.  We are working with a company called HalloweenCostumes.com.  When you place your order through this company, our 4th grade will receive a percentage of your total spent.  This is an easy way for us to earn some funds towards our Kartchner Caverns trip, and a GREAT way to go Halloween costume shopping without the lines and hassle.  We thank you for your help & support!  This link can be forwarded to others you may know as well.

Student Accounts

All students have been added to Edmodo, Accelerated Reader and IXL Math.  Please let us know if your child is having trouble accessing these.  This week 3rd - 5th Graders will be bringing home a form asking them to create khan academy accounts with their parents.  If you have any questions about this process, please email Mrs. Martinez at amartinez@craneschools.org.  For a copy of the student form please click here.

What Parents are saying!

"Our child really enjoys attending GSA! The children there are learning material at GSA that would not be available anywhere else in Yuma. You all are doing an amazing job!" "Gowan Science Academy is dedicated to a higher level of learning for the students. I see my son engaged and thinking about his challenging studies...and enjoying his education. Thank you!" "I like that there is such a strong community. The students seem to feel like a family." "I like the project style homework assignments that are given to my daughter." "My son learns amazing things and he enjoys learning it. He is in 3rd grade and comes home excited to tell me about what he has learned. Love the staff and the school Big thanks to everything you do for our kids and families. We appreciate you and KNOW you are laying the foundations for amazing leaders tomorrow! Our Gators are so smart and talented... never seen anything like this elsewhere. Love this school, the PTO and Mrs. Haines."

A big congratulations to Mrs. Martinez for winning a 2014 AzTEA Grant in the amount of $4,400.  There are two main goals of the project.  First, help students develop life-long positive health and fitness habits.  Second, incorporate Health and Physical Education with Technology, all the while emphasizing ELA and Math Common Core Standards.  Next fall, GSA will offer an after school club called Fit to be Published @ Gowan Science Academy.  Thirty students in 3rd – 5th grades will work on techniques to prepare and test for the Presidential Youth Fitness Award.  Students will monitor their progress using iPads to set health and nutrition goals and to analyze their skills to help them improve their performance.  In the end, students will create a personal iBook to document their experience and reflection.
