Our garden is growing!
GSA students recently planted Honeydew and Cantaloupe. Also, our school was lucky enough to be selected to participate in the Seedlings Pilot Program. This program allows our students to use the SeedSnap App to closely monitor plant growth, all the while, learning about different types of plants, leaves, seeds, fruits and vegetables. We are very grateful to the Digital Farm Collective for selecting GSA. For more information on the Digital Farm Collective click here.

A big congratulations to Mrs. Martinez for winning a 2014 AzTEA Grant in the amount of $4,400. There are two main goals of the project. First, help students develop life-long positive health and fitness habits. Second, incorporate Health and Physical Education with Technology, all the while emphasizing ELA and Math Common Core Standards. Next fall, GSA will offer an after school club called Fit to be Published @ Gowan Science Academy. Thirty students in 3rd – 5th grades will work on techniques to prepare and test for the Presidential Youth Fitness Award. Students will monitor their progress using iPads to set health and nutrition goals and to analyze their skills to help them improve their performance. In the end, students will create a personal iBook to document their experience and reflection.
Thank you Arizona Technology in Education Association for supporting technology integration in our school
